Japanese and Chinese image OCR

Extract printed Japanese, Simplified Chinese and Traditional Chinese text from images.

The starting button selects printed text mode with Japanese, Simplified Chinese and Traditional Chinese. You do not have to download all three: keep only the languages your document needs in settings.

Language data downloads from this site and is stored in your browser. Start with clear horizontal printed text. Vertical writing and complex layouts do not have a guaranteed reading order.

The result extracts the original text without translating it. Compare similar characters, punctuation and numbers with the source. Edit the text, then copy it or save as TXT.

How to use

  1. Add an image or PDF containing Japanese or Chinese.
  2. Keep the languages you need from the three starting selections and extract.
  3. Review characters, punctuation and line order, then copy.

What to check

There is no dedicated vertical writing mode. Selecting more languages does not always improve accuracy.
